Hello Everyone!
It's been full speed ahead since we returned from Spring Break! Plenty of learning every day - reading, writing, problem solving, experiments, research, participating in "Wear Pink to say No to Bullying Day," reading and talking about how to help our earth, preparing for an assembly - to name a few.
Ms. Provencher, our teacher candidate has been teaching our Geometry unit in Math. We have made booklets, done a scavenger hunt, compared 2-D shapes and 3-D objects and sorted them.
In Science, we've been learning about the importance of soil. What makes soil? What are the different layers in soil and different types of soils? Why do we need soil? Ms. Provencher has prepared and shown a number of different Power Point Presentations and lessons to teach us about soil. We've done experiments and worked through a booklet. We even ate "Dirt!" Ask me about that!
In Social Studies, we're learning about the country of Mexico. This will all lead up to our June Celebration of Learning! No siestas in our class!
We can't have April without celebrating this planet we call home. Reviewing the 3-R's is important and learning how even one young person can make a difference just by not being a litterbug. Speaking of that, students used leftover materials to create their own adorable "Litterbug." These will be on display in our hallway for a few days. Room 6 also performed a song at our Earth Day assembly on Thursday. It's called "One Planet." Their singing as a group sounds absolutely beautiful and they made us proud! You can watch a recording of the song, as part of this blog post.
Don't they sound wonderful! We hope you enjoy it!
