Halloween Happenings in Room 6!

We have had a fun, busy time of preparing for Halloween! Stories to be shared, writing about trick-or-treat plans, and math activities.

Children have been estimating the number of witches's eyeballs and spiders along with learning about the many ways that we use estimates in our daily lives. We have been Halloween problem solving and measuring. Graphing with popcorn and smarties was enjoyed, too!

A fun writing activity that we did was to use a comical photo of each child. They then drew body parts and wrote "How To Be A Monster, or a witch, a mummy, a creeper, etc. Very motivating! Earlier this month, children wrote about a special person in their life. Very special and you will see them at conferences.

We hope you enjoy these photos that share some of what we have been doing!

Busy Times!

Room 6 children have been busy little bees! While Mrs. Chumola was recuperating, her students accomplished some great, quality work! Now that we're back together, our days are jam packed with different math activities, writing poems and about special people in this our lives. Mrs. Chumola is proud of how well her class follows the routines when reading to themselves and to each other. That allows her to be able to do her jobs!

A group of three working through math story problems.

This past week, we had a talented artist work with us for our T.I.A. classes. She taught us about painting techniques. Do you know what "Interference Paint" is? Ask me! Because we're learning about our local community in Social Studies, we painted beautiful trees. We learned about adding details and mixing colours to create a work of art about nature.

Kael put fantastic detail into his practice piece!

Loralai's tree is so beautiful!

Our grade 3's have just one swim class left. They enjoy their lessons and it's fun for Mrs. Chumola to see them in a different environment. Here are their thoughts about swimming...

Eirrah - Swimming lessons are helping me to swim better.

Ben - I know how to float and swim in the deep end!

Frances - I like swimming lessons because they're really fun and I like to swim!

Kael - Swimming is the best!

Liam - I am enjoying swimming but it isn't better than doing work!

Madelynn - It's really fun! We get to go into the deep end!

Violet- It's really fun because we get to go on the slide and dive into the deep end!

Charlotte - Swimming is really fun and I've learned more about swimming.

Audrey - I can show off my swimming moves in the pool!

Dominic - Swimming is amazing!

Heather - I love it because Frances, Violet and I are in the same group.
