Science Fun!

In Science, Room 6 children have been learning about characteristics of objects and materials. Why are objects made from specific materials? Now, they get to design and build a bed for their stuffed animal! We've discussed criteria and they know what's expected to earn 3 Stars. It's amazing what we can do without hammers and nails!

It's Been An Exciting Week At Linwood!

Lots of fun things happened at Linwood the week of February 18-21. Room 6 celebrated 100 days of school with stories, 100 snacks, math estimation and writing about 100 wishes. We also celebrated our love of reading with an Olympic theme! We learned about the rings and the torch and listened to amazing guest readers. The week ended with our own Olympic Games! Below are a few photos of the day.

These yogurt parfaits are yummy!

We Have to Survive Our Winter - What do the animals do?

We were lucky to have Kyle visit our classroom. Kyle works at The Living Prairie Museum. He knows a lot about what Manitoba animals do in winter and.he came to share his knowledge with us.

We learned that bears are called "super sleepers." They "torpor" which means that they sleep most of the winter but they might wake up a few times. Did you know that?

Kyle taught us that many animals adapt to our winters just like we do!

Here is Ryan with a set of bison horns! Both females and males have horns and carry them their whole lives. Ask me what's different about animals that have antlers.
